I love this trilogy for its mad science, Gothic overtones, and – most of all – the sister wives’ relationship. Rhine, Cecily, Jenna, and Rose. Interesting enough in their own rights, but when one or more of them get together it’s simply a delight to read. The standout character of this entire trilogy is the multifaceted Cecily. An annoying brat in the beginning, but her life experiences have matured her beautifully. She’s a good mother, a good wife, a good sister wife, and a good friend. And to think she’s only fourteen. Rhine Ellery may be the focal character of this trilogy, but Cecily Ashby is my favourite.

12th February 2013 Release: Lauren DeStefano’s SEVER

Many apologies to the awesome Lauren DeStefano. When compiling February’s releases, I listed the UK date before the US one – and the UK date is the 14th, and the US is the 12th, and I didn’t scroll down to the 14th…

Lauren, your very own post that you don’t have to share. Really desperate to get my mitts on Sever. Hopefully my region of libraries will come through with the goods!

With the clock ticking until the virus takes its toll, Rhine is desperate for answers. After enduring Vaughn’s worst, Rhine finds an unlikely ally in his brother, an eccentric inventor named Reed. She takes refuge in his dilapidated house, though the people she left behind refuse to stay in the past. While Gabriel haunts Rhine’s memories, Cecily is determined to be at Rhine’s side, even if Linden’s feelings are still caught between them. Meanwhile, Rowan’s growing involvement in an underground resistance compels Rhine to reach him before he does something that cannot be undone. But what she discovers along the way has alarming implications for her future – and about the past her parents never had the chance to explain.
