Ambushed. Blindfolded. Kidnapped by vampires. Edie Spence must race against time to save herself and her baby – from the nightmare that flows through her veins… As a nurse in the hospital’s secret Y4 ward, Edie has seen her share of daytimers. Once-ordinary humans who’ve tasted vampire blood, daytimers are doomed to serve their nighttime masters. Forever. And now Edie has to face something even more horrifying: she’s become one too… Abducted by the vampire Raven, Edie is taken to the catacombs beneath the Catacombs, an ironically-named L.A. night club that supplies fresh blood and other favours for its vampire Masters. Edie has no intention of swapping her nurse’s uniform for a cocktail dress – not when her newborn infant needs her. But if she and Asher – her shapeshifter fiancé – can’t figure out a way to bleed Raven’s power, they may never get out of this plasma-soaked pleasure palace…undead or alive.

But in saving his life, she gets more than she bargained for. Sam is working undercover for the Paranormal Investigations Team, and those who are trying to murder him are actually humans infected by a plague-like virus, the Crimson Death – a by-product of a failed government experiment intended to identify the enzymes that make vampires immortal. Now all those infected must be eliminated. But when Emberly’s boss is murdered and his irreplaceable research stolen, she needs to find the guilty party before she goes down in flames…

Frustrated and frightened, the patient’s sister turns to Harper to discover who – or what – is occupying her sister’s body. As chief surgeon for the Wardens, Evelyn Stone fears her own life is on the line when she is kidnapped by a band of pirates – only to discover that the airship captain is Gavin “Mac” MacRae – her former lover. The man whose life she once saved. The man she abandoned. Since Evelyn left, Mac made his mark as both a pirate and a pilot. But his true allegiance isn’t known. So when he asks Evie for help with a wounded woman onboard, he tells Evie that the woman is his wife – even if his feelings for Evie have never waned… As the days pass, however, the unease between Evie and Mac gives way to the old comfort they used to have. In the Community, life seems perfect. The members of this isolated suburban development have thrived under Pioneer, the charismatic leader who saved them from their sad, damaged lives. Lyla Hamilton and her parents moved here following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, looking to escape the evil in the world. Now seventeen, Lyla knows certain facts are not to be questioned: Pioneer is her leader. Will is her Intended. The end of the world is near. Like Noah before him, Pioneer has been told of the imminent destruction of humanity. He says his chosen must arm themselves and prepare to fight off the unchosen people, who will surely seek refuge in the compound’s underground fortress – the Silo. Lyla loves her family and friends, but given the choice, she prefers painting to target practice. And lately she’d rather think about a certain boy outside the development than plan for married life in the Silo with Will. But as the end of days draws near, she will have to pick up a gun, take a side, and let everyone know where she stands.

Lightworld/Darkworld – Jennifer Armintrout

Jennifer Armintrout is one awesome chick. This isn’t part of her official bio; just my opinion 😉 From the Blood Ties series, I could tell she had a decent sense of humour, and her blog confirmed that. And the PODcast 😉

Jen has a new series (unrelated to the Blood Ties series) debuting this year, and the world building sounds new and intriguing. And since info of Lightworld/Darkworld hasn’t flooded the blogosphere yet…I’ll do it 😉

Behind the cut (if you’re reading this on a feed) is info for all three Lightworld/Darkworld novels: Queene of Light, Child of Darkness and Veil of Shadows. Until then, you can purchase the Blood Ties series, and remind Jen that she’s awesome (in case she forgets) 😉
