I prefer Calvin Harris’s “Love for You” (the B-side on the single) to “Acceptable in the ’80s”. It’s just gorgeous π
I’m concerned for my cat’s intellect: I caught him eating his own vomit the other night. Really. Because the vomit was in the (empty) bath, and he was in the bath eating it up. And his food dish was in its usual spot next to the shower. Oh dear…
I’ve realised a problem with my writing: my novels are short (circa 70,000), but my synopses are long (at least 900 words). Me thinks synopses should be shorter, but does anyone know the roundabout word count I should aim for?
Also, I need help with Blogspot HTML, because I want my sidebars to have wordcount meters, and lists of websites and blogs, and books I’ve read, and music I’ve listened to. How do I all this? I tried copying and pasting, but the headings don’t show up. Check out my Blogspot, and see if you can help, please. Much appreciated.
Now, for author pimpage of those on my LJ Mutual Friends List. Let’s meet them:
Jeaniene Frost: Writes urban fantasy. She gave away Halfway to the Grave cover flats, and I have one π Buy Halfway to the Grave on Nov 1 2007.
Mark Henry: Writes urban fantasy. With zombies. I mean, zombies are in the novel; they didn’t assist with writing – and if they did, MH didn’t give credit where credit was due π Buy Happy Hour of the Damned in March 2008. (Sorry, I don’t have the exact date because it’s not listed on Amazon yet.)
December Quinn/Stacia Kane: DQ writes erotica; SK writes urban fantasy. Buy Personal Demons on April 1, 2008.
Let it be known that Mark and Stacia are also part of an elite five-person group blog, League of Reluctant Adults. (Here’s hoping I’ve got the link right.) Basically it’s a group of urban fantasy writers who understand the importance of humour. They think they’re reluctant adults? Dude, I don’t have a job π Entries so far have been written by Anton Strout, Stacia and Mark. Don’t be surprised if I pimp the blog regularly – it may be the only chance I have to win free stuff, and you know I love presents π
And heads up, Mark: Guess who’s playing Sharon’s sister, Karen, on this week’s Kath & Kim? Have a squizz here.
You Should Play the Guitar |
You’re very independent – both in spirit and in the way you learn. You can teach yourself almost anything, even if it makes your fingers bleed.
You’re not really the type to sit patiently through a music lesson – or do things by the book. It’s more your style to master the fundamentals and see where they take you.
Highly creative and a bit eclectic, you need a wide range of music to play. You could emerge as a sensitive songwriter… or a manic rock star.
Your dominant personality characteristic: being rebellious
Your secondary personality characteristic: tenacity |
Nicked from Nicole, Andy:
Your home is a
Magic Muse’s Castle
Your kitchen is manned by a team of Keebler Drow Elves. Your master bedroom is decorated to look like the treetop village of the Galadhrim. Your study has every fantasy novel ever written, including multiple editions of the Silmarillion and advance copies of Dungeons and Dragons Fifth Edition.
Your home also includes a roost for griffons. You’ve never actually seen a griffon, but you keep the roost ready anyway. Your guests enjoy your home theater with hi-def plasma screen TV, and the thrones you watch it from. Outside is the moat that protects your home from goblin invaders and extended family.
And, you have a pet — a unicorn named “Shadowhooves”.
