This is my first non-Shadowfae book by the author, and unfortunately it doesn’t quite measure up to that beloved series. Gina Santangelo’s world feels rather familiar: vampires who hunt down demons, with swords and magic. Sex makes the magic better, and vice versa (I think). And the storyline is quite the standard erotic paranormal romance, though Alaliel does seem less common.
I don’t know. This instalment doesn’t work for me, but I hear there’s a sequel (Hunter’s Heart) coming at some stage, and I’ll give it a go. I just feel a bit flat right now.
