Curses and cons. Magic and the mob. In Cassel Sharpe’s world, they go together. Cassel always thought he was an ordinary guy, until he realised his memories were being manipulated by his brothers. Now he knows the truth – he’s the most powerful curse worker around. A touch of his hand can transform anything – or anyone – into something else. That was how Lila, the girl he loved, became a white cat. Cassel was tricked into thinking he killed her, when actually he tried to save her. Now that she’s human again, he should be overjoyed. Trouble is, Lila’s been cursed to love him, a little gift from his emotion worker mom. And if Lila’s love is as phony as Cassel’s made-up memories, then he can’t believe anything she says or does. When Cassel’s oldest brother is murdered, the Feds recruit Cassel to help make sense of the only clue – crime-scene images of a woman in red gloves. But the mob is after Cassel too – they know how valuable he could be to them. Cassel is going to have to stay one step ahead of both sides just to survive. But where can he turn when he can’t trust anyone – least of all, himself? Love is a curse and the con is the only answer in a game too dangerous to lose.

Everyone in Claysville knows that the Barrows are no ordinary family, but no one can really explain why. When respected matriarch Maylene Barrow dies suddenly her granddaughter Rebekkah returns to the small town she grew up in, where she must face the demons of her past – the suicide of her half-sister Ella, the person she was closest to in the world, and the subsequent break-up of her parents’ marriage. And she also re-encounters Byron, Ella’s old boyfriend, someone to whom she has always felt a deep and mysterious connection. But the demons of the past are nothing compared with what the future has in store for Rebekkah. Her grandmother has left her an inheritance both wonderful and terrible. An onerous responsibility now rests on her shoulders – one for which she is ill-prepared to say the least. For behind Claysville’s community-spirited, small-town facade lies a dark secret. One that ties Rebekkah and Byron together in an inextricable bond and that will require them both to sacrifice everything to keep their friends and neighbours from harm.

Mackie Doyle is a replacement – a fairy child left in the crib of a human baby sixteen years ago, to replace the baby when it was stolen away by the fey. So though he lives in the small town of Gentry, Mackie’s real home is the fey world of tunnels and black, murky water, a world of living dead girls ruled by a little tattooed princess. Now, because his fey blood gives him fatal allergies to iron, blood and consecrated ground, Mackie is slowly dying in the human world. Mackie would give anything just to be normal, to live quietly amongst humans, practise his bass guitar and spend time with his crush, Tate. But when Tate’s baby sister goes missing, Mackie is drawn irrevocably back home to the fey underworld of Gentry, known as Mayhem, where he must face down the dark creatures, rescue the child, and find his rightful place – in our world, or theirs.

In present day Louisiana, a virulent plague is being spread by fairies. Long believed to be creatures that only existed in fairy tales, a chemical spill in the Mississippi River jumps the fairies evolutionary track forward, turning them from microscopic harmless things to two inch, insect-like creatures with three sets of teeth and a single-minded hunger for human flesh and blood. 75% of those bitten will slowly go mad from the poisons fairies pump into the blood to incapacitate their victims. 10% will escape madness, but will develop cancerous ulcers on their spine that lead to a slow and painful death. 10% will suffer an immediate allergic reaction that will cause violent seizures and lead to a quick death. 5% are immune, and these people are often drafted into service by the government to invade the swamps to collect samples from the fairies, in hopes of finding a cure for the death and destruction they’re causing. Alcoholic misfit Annabelle Lee is one of those drafted into service at Fairy Containment Control, and it’s out on a job where she discovers the body of a little girl. Since the body is right off the swamp, the police assume that she’s a victim of the fairies. But even to Annabelle, a glorified lab tech at best, something doesn’t look right. Now she’s on the trail to find out the truth. Was this just another fairy death brought on by a curious eight-year-old who wandered outside her house after dark? Or was it murder committed by someone who wanted the fairies to take care of the evidence?

Love hurts, and no one knows it better than Georgina Kincaid. If she so much as kisses Seth Mortensen, the shy, sexy writer she’s been dating, she’ll drain his life force. Admittedly, the shapeshifting and immortality perks of a succubus are terrific, but it’s completely unfair that a she-demon whose purpose is seduction can’t get down with the one mortal who accepts her for who she is…It’s not just her personal life that’s in chaos. Doug, Georgina’s co-worker at a local bookstore, has been exhibiting bizarre behaviour, and Georgina suspects something far more demonic than double espressos. She could use an assist from Bastien, an irresistibly charming incubus and her best immortal friend, but he’s giving Georgina some highly distracting come-hither vibes. Georgina is going to have to work solo on this one – and fast, because soon, Doug’s life won’t be the only one on the line…
