Went to Borders and spotted some of your books. Keep in mind that Borders specialises in imports, so it has a lot of stuff that shops like Dymocks and Angus & Robertson don’t. Of course, if you’ve sold UK (and therefore Australian) rights, you’re much more likely to have your books in any store. Like Richelle Mead, Jennifer Rardin and Jeff Somers. Pretty much – if you’re published by HarperCollins or Hachette, you’ve got a good chance of getting here. Because Hachette UK publishes a lot of stuff that Hachette US doesn’t do – Kelley Armstrong, Jenna Black, Jim Butcher, Laurell K. Hamilton, etc.
Good little me only bought two books – Stacia Kane’s Personal Demons and the Weddings from Hell anthology – but here’s some other stuff I saw that wasn’t expected (because of the no UK/Australian rights thing):
Jennifer Armintrout (though unfortunately not All Souls’ Night)
Anya Bast
Naomi Bellis
Jennifer Estep
Colby Hodge
Eve Kenin
Marianne Mancusi
Liz Maverick
Adrian Phoenix
Jeanne C. Stein
Anton Strout
Rob Thurman (almost bought the three books, but decided to save my money)
Rachel Vincent
If you’re on the list, you can poke my brain to see if I remember which of your titles I saw. As for the rest of you…better luck next time. Meanwhile, hopefully your agents and publishers are working on selling UK/Commonwealth rights. Because non-US royalties are still royalties

Nice to know, Tez– I feel like you’re my agent down under!
Thanks, Jeanne

I’m more like a spy…or we could combine the two and call me a Secret Agent
Unfortunately I didn’t see any of Mario’s in this store. Recently found out that Harper Australia published Undead in June, but “didn’t do any promotion for it”. Dude! But I guess they publish so many books that they can’t give the same treatment…
Keep smiling, and have a lovely day!

For me, selling foreign rights isn’t up to me or my agent. My publisher has world rights, and they can put the books out wherever they want. But I think I’m supposed to have books out in Australia. Though they don’t always tell me these things…

I think we get a lot of Harlequin books, though much later. Jennifer Armintrout’s Ashes to Ashes was published only this year. (And her first two books were published in trade.) Same for Laura Anne Gilman’s Staying Dead. (Still waiting for the rest of her LUNAs to emerge.)
But what’s cool is that if you open a Harlequin published in Oz…it has NZ and Philippines copyrights, too
Have a lovely day!
