‘Tis Good to Get a Status Check

October 2, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Submission: Have submitted Shift query to an e-pub and a major pub. And good thing I did a status check yesterday – one of the agents who’d requested a partial had lost four years of email early last month. It’s a good thing to check up sometimes. But should I check up on those who I queried but was never rejected or invited to submit more? After all, some agents have the policy of “we’ll contact you only if we’re interested in more”. If I checked with them now, would they actually tell me if I’m rejected?

Correction: Got a little carried away yesterday without checking details properly – my bad. Released this weekend is The Hives’ single “Tick Tick Boom”. Which means we’ll have to wait until the weekend after the coming one for the album The Black & White Album. Now, fingers crossed they come to Melbourne, everyone. And that they play at the Forum, which is totally classy and fun – just like The Hives :-)

Addition: For the list of why AFL would make for interesting fiction: their hairless legs. I noticed this one day, and queried the Patriarch. He said something about when the players get their massages, they probably shave in prep for that. But do they shave, wax or get laser hair removal? All I know is that AFL players shave their legs more than I do. (And I just undertook personal deforestation yesterday, so I’m feeling somewhat accomplished. It won’t last long. But I did it because I thought it’d be 26 today. But it’ll only be 24. Still…

Pimping: This.
